Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Chesterton, IN
Answers That Will
Help You Smile
We love it when our patients ask us questions-- the more a person knows, the healthier their smile usually is! Patient education is a big part of what we provide here at Advanced Dental Concepts, because by empowering people with knowledge, we can help them largely avoid the most common dental issues. Below, we’ve gone ahead and answered some of our most popular questions, but if there is anything else you’d like to know, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
How often should I visit the dentist?
The answer to this question will be different for each person depending on their particular needs, but in general, people of all ages should visit a dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning. These appointments allow our team to not only remove plaque and tartar from the teeth, but also spot potential problems early when they are easiest to treat.
When should my child see a dentist for the first time?
We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental appointment as soon as their first tooth appears, or around the time of their first birthday. This initial visit will just consist of a gentle exam to make sure your baby’s teeth and mouth are developing correctly. Starting around age two, your child will need to start attending regular checkups and cleanings just like you.
One of my teeth really hurts. What should I do?
First, floss and rinse around the tooth to remove any food debris that might be stuck and causing the pain. If this doesn’t help, then the problem is likely a cavity or crack in the enamel, in which case you should give us a call right away. You won’t be able to handle this kind of issue on your own, and waiting will only allow it to become worse, so acting fast is in your best interest!
How should I replace my missing teeth?
Generally, our dentists would recommend dental implants first to anyone who is thinking about tooth replacement. Why? Because implants are the closest thing to real teeth available today, both when it comes to strength and aesthetics. But, the only way to get a definitive answer to this question is to come see us for a FREE dental implant consultation.
Do I have to get metal braces to straighten my teeth?
Not anymore! With Invisalign, our team can effectively correct crooked, crowded, and gapped teeth using a series of virtually invisible aligner trays that fit discreetly within the mouth. Invisalign is perfect for adults who want to straighten their teeth without sacrificing their professional appearance in the process.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Yes! Advanced Dental Concepts is an in-network provider with Delta Dental Premier and is happy to work with several out-of-network plans as well. How can we use your plan? Give us a call to find out!
I don’t have dental insurance. Is there another way to make my care affordable?
Yes, you can sign up for our Wellness Plan. For one highly-discounted fee, you can cover your standard dental care for the entire year and receive discounts on all other treatments. It’s just that simple, and there are no annoying deductibles, premiums, or yearly maximums. To learn more and sign up, give us a call today.
